DJ Workshop in North Clondalkin Library

On Monday the 30th of January a group of Transition Year students went to the North Clondalkin Library and took part in two workshops: one with ‘Noise Music’ and the other with ‘Independent Living Ireland’.

The students left school at 11 o’clock and walked over to the North Clondalkin Library. Once there, they were introduced to the Noise Music workers and given the option where they could attend a music production workshop or a DJ workshop, although the students had the option to change to either workshop at any time.

The students in the music production workshop got to make their own original beginning of a song and even got to include their own lyrics. The students had fun getting to record themselves performing these lyrics and getting to experience the work that goes into music production opened doors for more future career options.

The students were allowed an hour long lunch before returning to the library for another workshop with Peter Kearns from Independent Living Ireland. In this workshop the students got to learn about disabilities and how society creates barriers for people with disabilities from someone who experienced it first hand. The students took part in many activities that disabled them in some way and listened to the lessons this taught them. The students learned invaluable lessons from this while also enjoying themselves.
