Safer Internet Day 2026: A Fun and Engaging WholeSchool Success

This year’s Safer Internet Day, themed “IT’S ALL FUN AND GAIMES!”, ran successfully across the school, with students enthusiastically taking part in a range of activities designed to promote AI awareness, cybersecurity, and online safety.

Selected class groups participated in a onehour timetabled session during the week. These lessons were intentionally lowpressure, interactive, and highly engaging. Through games, puzzles, and collaborative challenges, students explored key digital conceptslearning how to stay safe, smart, and informed in an increasingly AIdriven online world.

Teachers appreciated the flexibility to run the lesson at any point during the week, ensuring the initiative reached as many students as possible. SPHE and Religion (Wellbeing) classes were particularly suited to the content, but teachers across multiple subjects were invited to incorporate online safety themes into their lessons. As digital literacy remains an essential part of ITrelated courses, the event naturally supported existing learning in those areas as well.

Overall, the week was a great success. Students enjoyed the activities, engaged fully with the topics, and strengthened their understanding of how to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. The wholeschool approach ensured that AI awareness and online safety remained at the forefront of learning throughout the week.

Special thanks go to all students involved, Ms Scully, Ms Devine and Mr Warren who facilitated multiple classes engaging with the lesson.

First year and other students received their Safer Internet Day wristband as part of the event.
