U19 Victorious In Final

30-January-23
U19 Victorious In Final

The under 19s boys team made their way out the Sacred Heart astro in Tallaght at 9.30am on Friday the 27th of January. The lads arrived and were raring to go, they went onto the astro and got their warm up going. After that they got their jerseys on. A few supporters showed up for the CPCC sideline.

The game got underway, the lads started off slow and got punished early. They went 1-0 down after failing to clear the ball out. The lads had to get used to each other's playstyle, the game was scrappy and dirty fouls were being put in. They never gave up and kept chasing the ball down. Nerves played a part in the first half as the lads needed to settle in. They made it to half time trailing 1-0 to Confey.

The 2nd half got underway and instantly there was a massive change in the Collinstown side. The lads showed hunger and passion, they made a couple half chances but nothing more came from them. Then out of nowhere Collinstown found themselves holding a 1-1 draw after Cian Burke pressured the goalkeeper and won it off him to slot it home for the CPCC. The crowd got behind the lads and gave them a massive boost. After Cian Burke cleared the ball and found Lee Dunne he did fantastically to pick out Onesime Tembe, he had a few yards of space to beat his man and fire CPCC into the lead. What a goal it was!

CPCC held the game and managed it well with some nice play and skills, especially with the rainbow flick from Onesime Tembe. Onesime once again found himself on the ball and played Cian Burke through on goal who rifled it into the far corner past the keeper, 3-1 to CPCC it was. The sideline went crazy and were screaming and shouting the whole time.

The lads managed the game well from the goalkeeper and the back four all the way to the centre forward, the two centre halves played brilliantly clearing out everything that came at them. The middle three stayed compact and kept the ball moving side to side. Against the run of play Confey caught the lads on a counter attack and brought it back to 3-2. Game On!

CPCC managed the game well despite the pressure. They kept calm with possession and made sure Confey didn't get another chance. They continued to move the ball and found themselves in another goal scoring position with 3rd year Lee Dunne slotting home his third goal in two games for CPCC. They were now winning 4-2 and Confey's heads dropped. Seeing out the game superbly CPCC won the game and brought silverware home to Neilstown. The celebrations were wild after Mr Harpur’s lads played brilliantly much to the delight of the travelling crowd. They left it all out on the pitch and deserved the trophy.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the team,
