Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) & Student(s)
I hope you and your family are well.
We are coming to the end of a busy and great first term and we would like to share with you just some of the many highlights and student achievements.
In August, we saw our sixth year graduates achieve very good exam results and go on to do great things, including employment, apprenticeships and college. Later in the term, the transition year students received very good Junior Certificate results. Congratulations to all the students, their parents, teachers and snas. We are very proud of all our students and their achievements.
In late August we welcomed a new group of first years and we are delighted to say that already they are settling into their new school. We recently held welcome coffee mornings for the first years and their parents/guardians. I know it wasn’t possible for everyone to be there, due to work and other commitments. I hope those who were able to attend enjoyed the morning.
Also, in August, we opened our new Autism Spectrum Suite. It is a fabulous new building with state of the art facilities. The students are really enjoying and benefitting from this new facility.
In September we said good bye to Ms Aileen Friel, who was our Deputy Principal since 2009. Prior to becoming Deputy Principal, Ms Friel was an excellent History and English teacher. She retired after forty years of wonderful service to Collinstown Park Community College. The staff and students are delighted for Ms Friel that she now has lots of time for new adventures and interests.
Also in September, we welcomed our new Deputy Principal, Ms Aisling Maguire. We wish Ms Maguire many years of happiness in Collinstown Park Community College.
In September we had a lovely graduation night for our Further Education students. We congratulate them on their results and wish them well in the future. September also saw us welcome a new group of 215 Further Education students and we wish them well for this college year and into the future.
Also in September, we became a phone free school. It has been a major success with many students talking about how much easier it is now to concentrate in class. Thank you to the parents/guardians for their support of this important initiative.
There have been many exciting educational trips and events organised for groups of students during this term, including:
Trips to College Open Days
Mentoring Programmes with the Company Circet
Fundraising for Pieta House and Hamper/Christmas Food Drives
Wellbeing Week
Student Council Elections and Inaugural Meeting
Leaving Certificate Geography Trip
Leaving Certificate English King Lear Trip
Student of the Month Presentations
Numerous Transition Year Trips
Football and Basketball Matches
This list is by no means exhaustive.
We recognise the importance and many benefits of parental involvement. If you are interested in joining the Parents’ Hub, please contact Ms Mohan on 01 4572300, extension 146.
We regularly seek the opinions of current students, but we are also very interested in receiving feedback from parents/guardians and past students. If you have any feedback you would like to share with us, please complete one of the feedback forms located in the school reception or available by contacting the school on 01 4572300.
Later in this school year we will hold a number of events, for current and past students and parents/guardians to celebrate the school’s 40th anniversary. We look forward to seeing you then.
Wishing you a relaxing and peaceful Christmas and the best of everything for 2025.
Kind Regards
Pauline Duffy
Principal
