The first year boys' football team played their first game of the league season against Cabinteely C.S. in a very competitive match. Unfortunately, the boys were beaten 4-2 in a highly entertaining game. Seán Nolan put Collinstown Park ahead, only for Cabinteely to score two quick goals to take the lead into half time. Both teams started the second half brightly with both teams creating chances. It was Cabinteely who scored first however, and they further extended their lead shortly afterwards. The Collinstown team kept battling and Blake McNamara scored a lovely individual goal to set up an exciting finish. As much as Collinstown tried they just couldn't find another goal.
Despite the loss, the boys can be very proud of their performance. If not for some excellent defending by Cabinteely and the width of the post it could have been a very different result.
Thanks to Mr Cassidy for the match report and team photo.
