We at Collinstown Park were very grateful for a visit to our further education students from Breast Cancer Ireland representative Lorna Kelty on Thursday October 24th.
Lorna spoke about the importance of maintaining our health through regular check-ups. She stressed the positive impact that early detection can have on health outcomes. The group then heard how an active and generally healthy lifestyle can also help to lessen the chance of cancer developing.
Some of our healthcare students organised the speaker as part of an assignment. They also provided an array of sweets, chocolates, biscuits and crisps for the audience to enjoy.
The fantastic spread was welcome owing to the charity walk for Breast Cancer Ireland our FET students had just completed ahead of the information session.
It was great to see so many of our students, some wearing the colour pink to represent the charity, come together across many of our courses to walk in aid of such an important cause.
Thanks to Lorna Kelty, Breast Cancer Ireland and our healthcare FET students for organising such an informative and enjoyable event.
