International Collinstown Park FET students hosted a meet-and-greet event for the wider FET college on Tuesday, November 28th in our sports hall. Our students from as far afield as Ukraine, Albania, Somalia, Libya, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Lithuania and El Salvador came together to display aspects of their home countries’ cultures including delicious food for their fellow-students to sample.
Collinstown’s ESOL Level 4 and 5 classes were joined at the event by the Microsoft Data Center Academy class as well as Nursing and Healthcare students. From baklava to bortsch, we were all well-fed.
It was a great opportunity for our FET students to socialise among their peers – everybody certainly seemed to enjoy finding out about the rich mix of cultures we have in the college while appreciating the huge effort students made to bring in samples of a variety of dishes.
We were even treated to a show-stopping performance in Ukranian and English of the Carol of the Bells by Valentyna Chernova complete with traditional Ukranian dress to round off what was a hugely enjoyable event.
