TY Students Get Kayaking In Dun Laoghaire

Last Friday, October 4th, the TY students, accompanied by Ms Jones, Mr Brennan, Ms Kavanagh, and Ms Grogan, went kayaking. They were asked to arrive at school by 8.45 a.m. for registration, and the buses departed at 9.10 a.m. It was a short journey to Dún Laoghaire, where the day's activities took place, and the students got started right away.

Upon arrival, they were introduced to the staff who would be guiding them for the day. The students were then given wetsuits and life jackets. Once suited up, they were taken by boat to the kayaks. Before getting into the kayaks, the group was briefed on safety measures. Everyone quickly picked up kayaking and began to enjoy themselves. They played games on the water, such as football and a few others.

After an hour on the water, the students paddled back to the dock, returned their kayaks and oars, and then boarded the boat to head back. After everyone had showered and changed, they visited a garage to grab a snack for the journey home. They arrived back at the school around 1.00 p.m.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip and is excited for more experiences like this in the future.
