On a warm breezy day the whole Transition Year group accompanied by their tutors Ms Hogan, Mr S. Higgins, Ms Dunne, Ms Strumble, Ms O’Mahony, Ms Kirwan and Year Head Ms Sullivan visited Causey Farm in the beautiful county of Meath.
We left around 8.30, so with an early start we could we beat the rush hour traffic. When we arrived the organisers of the activities that day greeted us with a greeting and a friendly smile.
We were split into groups of around fifteen students so we could get to all the individual activities in the one day. First up was the pizza experience. We made our own bases with flour, water and yeast. Then we added our toppings before cooking our creations in a pizza oven. The pizzas were delicious!
Next, we visited the farm animals. There was goats, horses, lambs, alpacas, rabbits, ducks and chickens. We were able to pet the friendly goats and rabbits.
After lunch, we headed for the bog. This was the best part of the day. As we sat in the back of the trailer that was drawn by the tractor we were anxious about our bog jump. When we got to the bog, we changed clothes and jumped in! Some people decided it wasn’t for them as the muck was out of control.
After the bog we cleaned ourselves off and readied ourselves to go home.
It was my best experience of Transition Year so far!
