Our U17s took on CBS Monkstown on a very windy Thursday afternoon in their second league game of this season's campaign. After starting with a win in their first league game the lads knew a win would go a long way to seeing them through to the Dublin South Semi Finals.
Playing into a strong wind in the first half, the lads started strong and had a couple of early chances through Dylan Melia and Sean Duff. The latter found the net midway through the first half when the ball fell at his feet from a corner, and he hit a sweet half volley into the bottom corner.
Collinstown dominated possession in the second half with the aid of the wind behind their backs. The lads doubled their lead through Alex O'Callaghan when the ball fell to the defender from another corner, and he slotted it past the goalkeeper. It was the second goal in 2 days for the defender who headed home for the U19s the day before.
Collinstown completed their scoring late on when Nelson Igunbar struck a free kick from 30 yards out into the top corner sparking wild celebrations on the pitch and sideline. It rounded off a man of the match performance for the midfielder who was fantastic all game. Our lads will play their final group game away at Oatlands and they will look to secure top spot in the group with another win.
Thanks to Mr Lanigan for the match report and Ms Rooney for the pictures.
