U19's Continue Winning Form

The U19s boy's team faced Firhouse on Tuesday the 15th of November away in Firhouse, Tallaght. The lads required a win to get through and needed to show up… and so they did.

Collinstown were aggressive from the off, pressing and winning their first tackles. They were getting into the game on the ball as well as off with some nice sequences of play, switching left to right. Collinstown were utilising their pace out wide with some ambitious balls over the top. The wingers did a great job in their 1 on 1s and put some great crosses and through balls forward.

After 20 minutes of heart and determination Collinstown were rewarded with a goal from a Cian Somers pass to Lee Greene, who finished off the Collinstown move with a tidy finish around the goalkeeper.

After their first goal they stayed compact and managed the game looking to see out Firhouse’s challenge. Just before the end of the half Cian Burke found himself 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper, the defenders tried frantically to get across but the forward was just that bit sharper. This saw the lads lead 2-0 at half time.

At half time Mr Harpur spoke about game management, the lads took on this information brilliantly and dominated possession in the 2nd half. The lads all stuck to position and covered for one another, the midfield were brilliant at keeping compact and the back four set a fantastic line. All the lads stayed disciplined and they defended from the front. The Collinstown keeper Devin Boland made a couple of great saves to keep the lads in it. After a moment of confusion Firhouse were awarded a free kick and it bounced its way into the back of the net. Apart from this setback, Collinstown were able to see out a crucial 2-1 win.
