HEALTH CARE SUPPORT QQI LEVEL 5 (5M4339)

Course Aim
The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill, and competence to work independently and under supervision in providing support in a variety of Healthcare settings and or to progress to higher education and training.


Employability Statement
On completion of this programme, learners may pursue roles within the healthcare sector across the lifespan. This includes roles as Healthcare Assistants, Care Support Worker, & broad range of roles in acute & long term care settings, Community Supports setting along with Assisted
Living, in the healthcare industry across public, private and community sector.


WHY DO THIS COURSE IN CPCC?
• Strong links with high quality work experience placements in HSE hospitals and services as well as private nursing homes.
• Graduates for this course have secured permanent positions in the Public and Private sector while others have opted to
continue with their studies at Third Level.
• Opportunity to undertake an extra module to achieve a second Major Award in Health Services Skills which is required to work in some HSE services.

Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI Level 4. Mature students
with relevant life or work experience. All candidates will be interviewed individually.


Work Experience
Work Experience is a compulsory part of the course. Garda vetting is essential
and will be organised through the college.


Certification
QQI Level 5 Major Award in Health Care Support & Certification in Patient Moving
& Handling and First Aid.
