Datacenter Academy Programme (Supported by Microsoft)
The Datacenter Academy programme covers content at QQI level 5 and level 6 of the National Framework of Qualifications in the area Computer Systems and Networks.
The Datacenter Academy Programme is essentially a two year programme, with both years leading to qualified technical roles.
The datacenter academy lab is a mini-scale 3 rack replica DC with the look and feel of a real-world operational datacenter. It is fully equipped and fully functional. Trainees enrolled in Collinstown Park Community College’s DCA program get hands-on access to decommissioned datacenter equipment that Microsoft donates, which helps ensure the learning environment closely resembles what they’ll see when they go to work.
Learners in the datacenter academy have the opportunity to earn an industry-recognized CompTIA Certification as part of the course. The CompTIA awards are CompTIA A+, studied in year one and CompTIA Server+, studied in year two. As stated, both certificates lead to job roles but most learners prefer to progress to the advanced course content, delivered in year two. This industrial certification shows employers that when certified, you have the skills required for roles such as IT Support Technician, Datacenter Technician, Server Administrator and Network Administrator. These job roles are currently in high demand.
You will discover more about the skills, competences and value of these awards here: https://www.comptia.org/
